3D Printing Service

Wheatland Regional Library has a 3D printer (Bambu Lab P1S) available for use by Wheatland Regional Libary cardholders.

This printer allows us to print faster than ever before to provide the best possible service to our patrons. We are also able to make use of a variety of filaments that were previously unavailable. Our printer allows us to create multi-coloured prints on top of using specialized support materials for more advanced prints.

Our 3D printing services are only available to Wheatland Regional Library cardholders.
You can submit a 3D print request either by clicking here or by clicking the "Want to submit a 3D print? Click here!" button at the top of this page.
The cost of each 3D print varies by complexity, amount of material needed, and type of filament used. We offer the 3D printing services on a cost-recovery basis, with the average 3D print costing $0.10/gram of filament used.
Payment is made at the time of pick-up. We are only able to accept cash for our 3D prints.
This can range anywhere from 30 minutes to a few days depending on complexity of the print. We will give you an estimate before confirming your print request.
3D prints must be submitted to us in .stl, .3mf, or .obj format. If you're having trouble converting your object into the correct format, please let us know and we will try to help you.
You can use a variety of software like Blender or 3D Builder
We keep a basic assortment of PLA to handle most print jobs. Our printer however is capable of supporting a multitude of colours and finishes. Please email [email protected] if you have specific filament needs for your project to determine if we are able to complete your request.
If we are unable to complete your print, we will not charge you. Sometimes printing an object will require multiple attempts to get right. We will not charge you for those additional attempts. After receiving your print, if you'd like to make changes or print off additional copies that may incur a charge unless otherwise specified.
We will hold onto your print for 1 month before recycling it.
We can send your 3D print to any of our Wheatland Regional Library branches free of charge. You may also pick it up from our headquarters in Saskatoon.
We can print pieces up to 250mm x 250mm x 250mm in size. Any post-printing assembly of pieces is your responsibility.
We will not print anything deemed dangerous or innappropriate. This includes - but is not limited to - keys, items under copyright protection, and weapon components. Wheatland reserves the right to refuse any 3D print request.
There are many creators that offer their .STL files for sale or free download from their own websites. Your local library staff will gladly help you find websites to look for options. Common websites include: Thingiverse, Makerworld, and Printables.
